Events, clubs, and parties were beginning to open up, but a new steep rise in Covid-19 cases in The Netherlands has forced the government to take action and close nightclubs, parties, and events after cases increase seven fold.

The Testing for Entry (testen voor toegang) will only be valid for seated events. The period of validity will also be shortened from 40 hours to 24 hours.

The new regulations will go in affect until 14 August. After the announcements several events and parties announced on social media that their events would be postponed or cancelled for the time being. This means that many events planned during Amsterdam’s Pride Week (31 July – 8 August) will be cancelled.
